Here are a few helpful tips to select the chair you can sit in and be comfortable on:
  • If your chair fits right, in addition to being comfortable, your seat should be deep enough so that you can fit 2-4 fingers between the front of the seat edge and the back of your knees. If your legs are too long, or too short, it's the wrong chair.
  • Good seat height should put your knees approximately level or just a tad lower than your hips.
  • Seat width should allow about an inch on either side of your hips, not more. Your bottom should not be wider than the chair seat.
  • Lumbar support should fit in the spot where you can feel its support.
  • Chair arms should be placed (height and width) so that they are close enough to your body so your arms rest in a relaxed position, and support your arms when you type. Many chair arms are too high, or on thinner people, too far apart.
  • Choose a chair that is right for your weight.
